To use Ethernet cable:
If you want to use your Ethernet port, connect an Ethernet cable between the Linksys router and your Ethernet port. There is a gray Ethernet cable already connected to the Linksys router for you to use.
To use wireless Ethernet:
If you already have a wireless Ethernet card, set the wireless domain to nantucket (all lowercase). There is no network key or WEP key.
If you do not have a wireless Ethernet card, there is one in the left desk drawer to use while you are at the beach. You will have to install it the first time you use it (see instructions below). You only have to install the software the first time you use the wireless card. On subsequent visits just insert the card before you start up your computer.
To install the wireless Ethernet card:
If you don’t have Windows XP:
Insert the Linksys CD-ROM entitled “Wireless-B Notebook Adapter Setup Wizard.” If it doesn’t start automatically, run the setup.exe file on the CD-ROM. Click the Infrastructure Mode button. In the SSID field enter nantucket (all lowercase). Finish the installer and then turn off your computer. Insert the Wireless Ethernet PC card. Restart you computer.
If you have Windows XP:
Turn off your computer. Insert the Wireless Ethernet PC card. Restart your computer. After Windows configures the PC card, Windows will say it found a wireless network. Select nantucket and check the box marked “Allow me to connect to the selected wireless network, even though it is not secure.” Then click connect.
For more detailed instructions consult the Linksys instructions in the drawer.
